Hyderabad, Jul 5:Fifteen-year-old Padidala Vishwanath, a young sailor who lives and trains at Navy Boys Sports Company (NBSC), INS Mandovi, Goa has been selected in Junior Boys Yachting team to represent India in Optimist World Sailing Championship 2021 being organised at Riva Del Garda, Italy from June 30 to July 10.
Vishwanath, a resident of Hyderabad is from a very humble background and is parents are daily wage labourers. However, Vishwanath strives to live his dream of becoming a professional sailor, a release here said on Monday.
He was selected by Navy Boys Sports Company at a young age of 12. NBSC, a joint venture between Indian Navy and Sports Authority of India has been training young talents like P Vishwanath with an aim to win medals in Asian Championships as well as Olympics.
Vishwanath’s prior achievement in International Event includes silver medal in the sub-junior International Regatta 2017.
He has been a part of the National Squad in Optimist class since then, the release added.(UNI)
