Tokyo Olympics: Kamalpreet Kaur finishes 6th in discus throw final
Tokyo, Aug 2: India’s Kamalpreet Kaur produced a respectable show and finished sixth in the women’s discus throw final at the Tokyo Olympics, here Today.
Competing in the women’s final, the 25-year-old Kamalpreet measured her best throw at 63.70 meters to finish sixth among the 12 finalists at Tokyo 2020.
US Valarie Allman won the gold medal with an effort of 68.98 meters while Kristin Pudenz of Germany managed 66.86m on her final attempt to clinch the silver at the Olympic Stadium.
Yaime Pérez of Cuba settled for the bronze with an attempt of 65.72m.
Kaur’s personal best is 65.06 meters, a national record she set at the Federation Cup in March.
The Punjab athlete also threw a 66.59m at the Indian Grand Prix in June but it’s not considered a national record since she was the sole participant on the day. (UNI)
