Sikki questions Covid-19 tests

Cuttack, Jan 26 : India’s experienced doubles badminton player N. Sikki Reddy raised questions over authenticity of Covid-19 tests after her withdrawal from the BWF Odisha Open Today. The 28-year-old was forced to withdraw from the tournament after she returned a Covid-19 positive report. However, she tested negative after she returned home. In an Instagram post, Sikki shared her test reports and said: “Unfortunately I have to withdraw from Odisha open as I tested positive. “First of all I gave my sample on 23rd and In the report it says collection time 24th and got my report so late that is after 36 hours where as people who got tested on 24th night gets report very fast than us why is it like that? “I did a test before leaving to Odisha open and it’s negative. I tested positive on arrival and I don’t have any symptoms at all and was training fully. I felt so strange that I came back and did a re-test and it’s negative. Can someone explain why is it like that? “Are these tests are genuine enough and behalf of all players we want to know. “Whom to blame is it the medical team, BWF, organising committee or Odisha sports department. “The tension of these tests has been far more than any tournament or match stress. So much time, money and energy spent. All for nothing. No support or help. Earlier, Sikki had withdrawn from the India Open after testing positive for Covid-19. Apart from Sikki, men’s doubles pair of Prem Chouhan and Rajesh Verma, mixed team of Venkrish Reddy Pagilla and Poojitha Goudicherla, women’s doubles duo of Suhana Mansoori and Krati Saraswat have also withdrawn from the tournament. (UNI)
