Birmingham, Aug 2 :The two-time Commonwealth Games medallist Punam Yadav failed to get a ranking in the women weightlifting 76kg final here on Tuesday.
Yadav couldn’t manage to lift 116kg in all of her three attempts in the clean and jerk round. She started Snatch round with 90 kg which she failed to lift.
Then she successfully lifted 95kg in the second attempt before registering her best lift of 98kg in the final Snatch attempt.
Canada’s Maya Laylor won the gold medal with a combined lift of 228 kg (Snatch 100kg; Clean and jerk 128 kg, a new CWG record in the category.
Taiwo Liadi of Nigeria takes silver with a total lift of 216 kg (Snatch 96 kg; 120kg Clean and Jerk). The bronze was won by Maximina Uepa from Nauru with total lift of 215 kg (96 +119 kg).(UNI)
