Maha: The three-day state championship for U-11 boys’ and girls’ FIDE-rated chess will begin on August 30 in Kolhapur.

KOLHAPUR, AUG 18 :  The Maharashtra State Under-11 Selection Open FIDE rating Chess Championship 2024 (selection for National Chess Championship) will be held from August 30 to September one at Bramhan Sabha Karveer Hall of the city.

The competition will be organised by Chess Association, Kolhapur under aegis of Maharashtra Chess Association, All India Chess Association and FIDE. It is sponsored by late Advocate D R Mundargi and Bramhan Sabha Karveer.

The three-day-long competition will be played in Swiss style format with eight rounds. Top four players (two from each age group) will be selected to represent Maharashtra in forthcoming National Chess Championship for the same age group, said Bharat Chaugule, chairman of the organising committee, in a press release issued here on Sunday.(UNI)
