Maha BJP chief assures to popularise roll ball at global level

Pune, Apr 23 : Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil on Saturday announced to give Rs 25 lakh from his MLA quota for construction of roll ball sports ground in city and promised to make all efforts to take roll ball globally. Speaking at ground-breaking ceremony of the sports ground which is being developed by Pune District Rollball Association at Baner in Kothrud constituency, he said that this sport was started by a sports coach Raju Dabhade and now it needs to go global. “Today, roll ball is played in 57 countries. But many do not know that it was born in Pune. So this sports needs to reach out to everyone,” he said. “I am providing Rs 25 lakh from the MLA fund for construction of the ground. In future, through public participation and using companies’ CSR funds, I will strive to popularize the sport globally,” he added. Patil asked the Pune District Rollball Association to take initiative for promotion of rollball and organize the district- or state-level competitions. Founder member of Rollball Association Vasant Rathi, vice-president of Maharashtra Roll Ball Association and BJP Pune city spokesperson Sandeep Khardekar, councillor Amol Balwadkar, Pune city BJP vice president Ganesh Kalmakar, president of Pune District Roll Ball Association Gajanan Tharkude, secretary Pramod Kale, Babasaheb Bhand, Vijay Kakade, Jay Kakade, along with other dignitaries, were present on the occasion.(UNI)
