India to fight for WEC Global Finals spot
New Delhi, Jan 5 : Total Gaming and Team SoloMid (TSM FTX) alongside 10 other Indian teams progressed into the next stage of World Esports Cup (WEC ’21), and will fight for a place in the global finals at South East Asia’s premier tri-nation esports tournament.
Arrow Esports, Blackflag Army, Aura Gaming, Stone Crushers, Desi gamers, TG Tycoon, Chemin Esports, Helping Gamers, Orangutan and UG Empire are the other teams who will compete in the India finals.
Ajay Sharma-led five-member team Total Gaming, comprising of top gamers like Hora Vetkumar, Narai Yadav, Daksh Garg, and Rohit Sarraf (sub), alongside the country’s other top teams, including Team SoloMid, Team Desi Gamers Esports will make their mark in the upgoing national qualifying stage, scheduled on Thursday and Friday.
The top four teams from the India finals will join teams from Pakistan and Nepal in the 12-team global finals.
From Pakistan Team Hotshot, The Guardians, Five mutants and Legend Style ES , while 2b Gamer, Tonde Gamer, Dada Gang and KM Brotherhood will represent Nepal have qualified for the global finals.
After the India finals, four qualified teams each from India, Pakistan, and Nepal will fight for the WEC ’21 title at the global finals, scheduled from January 10 to 14.
The inaugural edition of the WEC has a whopping prize pool of Rs 75 lakh.
Owing to Covid-19 pandemic, the tournament has been played virtually over a period of three months, where athletes are competing in one of the most popular battles royal games, Free Fire.(UNI)
