India Pledges Support for Sri Lanka’s Sports Development

COLOMBO, JAN 6 :India has pledged to provide unconditional support for the development of sports in Sri Lanka, the island nation’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports said on Monday.

This commitment was made during a meeting held during the day between Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha and Sri Lanka’s Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sunil Kumara Gamage, according to The Daily Mirror report.

The Indian High Commissioner expressed that support would be extended for sports development initiatives across the country, focussing on a range of sports, including cricket. He emphasised the goal of further strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the field of youth affairs.

High Commissioner Jha also invited Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to visit the Indian Youth Affairs Division as part of this collaboration.

The meeting was attended by Sri Lankan Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara and Deputy Minister of Sports Sugath Thilakaratne.
