India announces Women’s Asia Cup squad
MUMBAI, SEP 21 : The All-India Women’s Selection Committee on Wednesday announced squad for the upcoming ACC Women’s T20 Championship 2022 to be played at Sylhet, Bangladesh from October 1 to 15.
Jemimah Rodrigues has returned to T20I squad after missing the ongoing England tour because of a wrist injury which she sustained during her stint at the Women’s Hundred.
Richa Ghosh, who impressed with her lower-order hitting during the England series, retained her place as the frontline wicket-keeper.
The first-choice wicket-keeper during Commonwealth Games, Taniya Bhatia, has been included in the standby list along with medium-pacer Simran Bahadur.
The Women’s Asia Cup is returning after a four-year gap. The seven-team tournament will be played in a round-robin format, with each team playing six matches in the league phase, before the top four advance to the semifinals.
India began their campaign against Sri Lanka on October 1 while they face rivals Pakistan on October 7.
