Haryana Sports Minister inaugurates Khelo Haryana Competitions at GMN college Ambala Cantt
Ambala, Aug 27 : The Haryana Sports and Youth Programme Minister of State Sandip Singh while inaugurating Khelo Haryana Competitions at the GMN College Ambala Cantt Friday said that a sportsman was never defeated.
He saiid that the defeat gave him incentive and he started work hard to achieve the highest position in sports. He hoisted the sports flag and took the salute from the participating students drawn from each district of the state. He said that the stat government was committed to encourage hockey in the state. Remembering his olden days he said that since 1966 to 1994 hockey remained neglected and haryana school team never reached national level. Only once the hockey team reached the finals at competition held at Jammu.
The Sports Minister Sanadip Singh said that in view of the pandmic corona-19, the sports competitions remained suspended and now the state govrnment had decided to hold the Kehlo Haryana Compeetitions from August 27 to 29 at the GMN College here. He said that as many as 1342 men and women participants were taking part in the 3-day comptitions.
He hoped that the boys would shine in sports in th coming days with hard work and would earn laurels for their school, district and state in the competitions held at national level. The Minister was accompanied by Ambala MLA Aseem Goel.
The sports department assisted by the district administration has made laborate arrangmnts for the stay of the coptitors. Th comptitions would be organisd at four separate centres. The sports boys and girls would stay at separate schools and other places. The deputy commissioner Vikram Singh had ordred that the comptitors should be well looked after during their stay.(UNI)
