For the India Tests, England has named three uncapped players.
LONDON, DEC 11 : England have named their Test squad for the tour of India in January next year with a new-look spin attack featuring four spinners.
Skipper Ben Stokes will lead a new-look England Test team for the ICC World Test Championship series in India next year.
Shoaib Bashir, who has only played six first-class games, is one among four spinners that make the touring party. Jack Leach will lead the spin attack which also has Rehan Ahmed and left-arm spinner Tom Hartley, an ICC report on Monday said.
Chris Woakes, Liam Dawson and Will Jacks were notable omissions from the squad. James Anderson will lead the pace attack in India with uncapped Gus Atkinson making the promotion from the limited-overs squad. Mark Wood and Ollie Robinson are the other pacers in the squad.
Meanwhile, there was also a recall for wicketkeeper Ben Foakes, who missed out from the Ashes squad earlier in the year. Jonny Bairstow is the other wicketkeeper in the squad. Ollie Pope and Leach also return from injuries.
The first Test of the series is in Hyderabad from January 25.
