Flexible to bat at any position: Suryakumar

Ahmedabad, Feb 8 : India batter Suryakumar Yadav Today said that batting at number five is not an issue for him as he is “flexible to bat at any position” for the team. India will take on West Indies in the second ODI on February 9 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. “Yes, I’ve batted at number 3,4 and 5, but I’m flexible to bat at any position. Wherever the team management decides and wants me to bat, I am available,” said Suryakumar at the virtual press conference. The Rohit Sharma-led side comfortably won the first game, which marked India’s 1000th ODI match, by 6 wickets. “India have ticked all boxes in the first ODI, we would look forward to keep that consistent.” The 31-year-old also revealed that he has been bowling “regularly” in the nets. “I’m regularly bowing in the nets, anytime when the team needs me to bowl – I am ready to bowl”. When asked whether he would consider playing the Ranji Trophy for Mumbai if not selected for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, Suryakumar said, “Obviously, I’ve always loved playing red-ball cricket because this is where it all started for me. “Whenever I’m free and available, I’ve always played red-ball cricket. I’m looking forward to playing Tests for India.”
