Bengaluru’s 208 objective was set by Mysore for the Maharaja Trophy final.

BENGALURU, SEPT 1 :  In a match that showcased both skill and determination, the Mysore Warriors have set a formidable target of 208 runs for the Bengaluru Blasters in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2024 final at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday. Mysore, under the astute leadership of Captain Karun Nair, concluded their 20 overs at a commendable 207/4.

Nair was the standout performer for Mysore, delivering a commanding innings of 66 runs from 45 balls, including 6 fours and 3 sixes. His impressive knock played a crucial role in guiding Mysore to their competitive total before he was dismissed by LR Chethan off the bowling of MG Naveen. Nair’s decisive innings demonstrated the kind of aggressive cricket that proved instrumental in achieving the high score.

The final overs of the innings saw an array of boundaries and powerful strokes, notably from Manoj Bhandage, who contributed a brisk 44 runs off just 13 balls, featuring 2 fours and 5 sixes. His energetic performance in the closing overs significantly bolstered Mysore’s total. Additionally, Jagadeesha Suchith added a valuable 7 runs off 6 balls, including a key boundary.

The Bengaluru bowlers faced a challenging task, with Santok Singh, Lavish Kaushal, and Naveen MG struggling to contain Mysore’s aggressive batting. Singh and Kaushal did not secure any wickets and were expensive, each conceding over 10 runs per over. Naveen MG managed to take 2 wickets but also allowed 44 runs in his four-over spell. The 19th over proved particularly costly, with Bhandage accumulating 24 runs, including three sixes and a boundary off Singh’s bowling.

Naveen did manage to claim the crucial wicket of Karun Nair in the 17th over, but he was also hit for 14 runs off just three deliveries, including 2 fours and a six.
As Bengaluru prepare to chase this challenging target, they will need to produce a strategic and high-caliber response to match the Mysore’s impressive display. Fans can look forward to an exciting run-chase, as Bengaluru aim to rise to the occasion.

Earlier in the match, Mysore’s innings began strongly, reaching 82/1 after 10 overs, largely due to a splendid half-century from SU Karthik. Karthik’s innings of 71 off 44 balls, including 7 boundaries and 3 sixes, was a highlight, providing solid support to Nair. The partnership between Karthik and Nair was crucial, particularly after the early dismissal of Karthik CA for just 3 runs. This partnership established a strong foundation, setting the stage for the high target that now awaits Bengaluru.(UNI)
