Aakarshi beats Malvika, reaches semis
New Delhi, Jan 14 : India’s young shuttler Aakarshi Kashyap Today progressed to the India Open semi-final here after an easy 21-12, 21-15 win over compatriot Malvika Bansod in the women’s singles.
Bansod earlier stunned ace shuttler Saina Nehwal in the second round while Kashyap defeated fellow Indian Keyura Mopati on Thursday.
In the men’s doubles, Ishaan Bhatnagar and Sai Pratheek bowed out after suffering a 7-21, 7-21 defeat at the hands of third seed Malaysian pair Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi.
In the mixed doubles, Ashwini Bhatt and Nithin H V went down 15-21, 19-21 to Singapore’s Hee Yong Kai and Tan Wei Han.
Another mixed pair of Venkat Gaurav Prasad and Juhi Dewangan lost 10-21, 13-21 to third seed Malaysian pair Chen Tang Jei and Peck Wen Yie.(UNI)
