Skiers passionately participate in the Army’s “Chinar Open Winter Games” in Gulmarg

SRINAGAR, FEB 28   :    A large number of skiers participated in the two day “Chinar Open Winter Games 2024” at the ski resort of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir Baramulla district, Army said.

“The event witnessed large participation by young enthusiasts from across Kashmir in various ski diciplines”, Army said on X on Wednesday.

The event was organised by Dagger Division of Chinar Corps, captivating audiences with its exceptional display of athleticism, sportsmanship, and camaraderie.

Amidst the picturesque snowcapped peaks of Pir Panjal Ranges, the Winter Games seeked to provide a positive outlet for the energy and enthusiasm of Kashmiri youth, channelling their potential towards constructive and competitive endeavours.

The event highlighted the Indian Army’s commitment to promoting sports by providing a platform to the budding talents this Year’s Winter Games attracted a diverse range of participants from across the Valley, includIng seasoned competitors and enthusiastic amateurs.

Hazika Tarooq of Srinagar District won the first position in Giant Slalom in the below 18 category for female, while Vakar Ahmad Lone from Baramulla won gold in Snowboarding , Srinagar based defence spokesman said.

Chinar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai felicitated all the participants and encouraged them to excel in sports and adventure activities.
