London, Jan 1 : Manchester City won their 11th consecutive match in the Premier League after defeating Arsenal 2-1 here the Emirates Stadium Today.

The new year victory also took City 11 points clear at the top of the English league’s table. Arsenal, on the other hand, stay at fourth position.

Bukayo Saka gave Arsenal an early lead but City came from behind in the second half to hand a 10-man Arsenal their tenth straight loss against them.

City, who were not at their best in the first half, found a way back into the game after the break. The VAR awarded City a penalty and Riyad Mahrez got his team on par with Arsenal in the 57th minute.

Gabriel was slapped with two yellow cards in two minutes, leading his removal from the match. The first booking came for scuffing the penalty spot, while the second for disrupting City’s counter-attack.

Rodri then netted the winner in stoppage time to help City take home three points.

City will next take on Swindon Town in the FA Cup on January 8, while Arsenal face Liverpool in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final on January 7.(UNI)
