Former J&K cricketer Ravi Kant passes away, JKCA mourns
Jammu, Oct 5 : Former Ranji Trophy cricketer Ravi Kant passed away today here after a prolonged illness. He was 63.
The cricketer had represented Jammu and Kashmir in the state Ranji Trophy team for which he played 32 matches.
He had also played for North Zone in Duleep Trophy.
The JKCA officials paid tributes to the departed soul for his sterling contribution towards development and promotion of cricket in J&K.
Sun Committee members of the JKCA, Mithun Manhas, Sunil Sethi and Majid Dar also joined the condolence meeting virtually.
JKCA Administrator Brig Anil Gupta (Retd) while paying the tributes highlighted the details of his contribution while Ashwani Gupta, member CAC highlighted his qualities as a player. Recalling his association with him, Mr Ashwani said that he was an excellent left-arm spinner who used to mesmerized the batsmen with his quality spin bowling.
Chief senior selector Vidya Bhasker recalled the personal and human qualities of the late cricketer.
He said that Ravi Kant was not only a great player but also an excellent human being who maintained cordial relations with all his colleagues.
Manhas remembered him as a good leader and also highlighted that Ravi Kant was appointed as a match referee twice by the BCCI.(UNI)
