J&K Cricket Assn Sub-Committee frames 3-member advisory panel

Jammu, Aug 2: Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association Sub Committee Today framed a three-member advisory panel for upcoming cricket affairs for the season 2021-22.
“The three-member Sub-Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) unanimously approved the formation of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) for the cricketing season 2021-22,” JKCA sub-committee member, Brig (Retd) Anil Gupta, who is also looking after Administration of Association said in an official communiqué.
He said that the Advisory Committee comprises a three-member panel of veteran cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir comprising former Ranji Trophy skippers, Abdul Qayoom, Ashwani Gupta, and prominent woman cricketer and the only level 3 coach in J&K, Roopali Slathia.
The CAC will work as a team and report to the Sub-Committee, said the communiqué.
Besides appointing men’s/women’s selection committees, the handout added that the CAC will also evolve norms for the fair and transparent process and also do a periodic review of the selectors/coaches/support staff/match officials and forward their recommendations to the Sub-Committee.
“The Sub-Committee expects that CAC will create an environment in which every deserving cricketer gets an opportunity to display his/her talent and only the best gets the honour to represent the JK UT team,” it said.
The members of the CAC were handed over appointment letters signed by International Cricketer Mithun Manhas, who is also Member Sub Committee.
“It is hoped that with the appointment of CAC, transparency and fairness will get prominence and restore the confidence of the players both men and women in the system,” stated Brig Gupta.
Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, Member-Legal exhorted the newly appointed CAC to set a new benchmark in transparency and respect for the talent that it becomes difficult for anyone to fiddle with the system in the future. (UNI)
