Hyderabad, Nov 10 : YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) President Y S Sharmila has halted her ‘Praja Prasthana Yatra’ in view of enforcement of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by the Election Commission for holding the election to 12 vacant MLC seats under nine Local Authorities’ Constituencies in the state.
Ms Sharmila who had launched her marathon Padayatra on October 20 has completed 21 days covering six assembly constituencies– Chevella, Maheshwaram, Shamshabad, Ibrahimpatnam, Devarakonda and Munugode in the state.
In a statement here on Wednesday Ms Sharmila said that she has decided to halt the padayatra adhering to the guidelines of the Election Commission.
She would resume the padayatra after the MCC was lifted.
By extending her solidarity to the farmers demanding the state government to purchase paddy, she would launch a 72-hour “ Deeksha” in Hyderabad from Friday.(UNI)
