Palghar, Sep 16 : A 20-year-old youth from Palghar has been arrested by the district rural police on Wednesday on the alleged charges of repeatedly raping his 15-year-old neighbor and leaving her pregnant, the police said Today.
An officer from the Palghar district rural police control room told that the accused used to visit the victims house repeatedly when her parents were not not around and rape her.
The crime happened between January and May this year, the officer said.
The victim is pregnant now and this was revealed in the medical examination report after she complained of abdominal pain.
The family complained to the police on Wednesday about the sexual harassment following which the police arrested the accused.
The accused has been charged under various sections of the IPC falling under Rape and also POCSO Act, the police said.
The local Palghar police are probing into the crime further, the police added.(UNI)
