Lucknow, Sep 29: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released 75 Special Covers today under the scheme “One District One Product” of the Ministry of Small & Micro Enterprises.

The Chief Postmaster General of UP Circle, Kaushlendra Kumar Sinha presented the first set of special covers to Chief Minister.

UP Cabinet Minister for Khadi & Gram Udyog, Sericulture, Textiles, MSME, Siddharth Nath Singh, UP State Minister for Khadi & MSME Chaudhary Udaybhan Singh, Postmaster General HQ Region Lucknow Vivek Kumar Daksh, Director Postal Services Mohd. Shahnawaz Akhtar, Chief Postmaster Lucknow GPO K.S. Bajpai and other dignitaries graced the occasion.

The products of 15 districts out of 75 have been globally recognized by GI-Tag. It is the first time in Indian History when 75 special covers and special cancellations have been released at a time in a day making it a record.

Department of Post and ODOP cell will apply soon for registration in the Book of World Record. The theme of special covers is a product primarily manufactured in a District of Uttar Pradesh.

UP Government and UP Postal Circle came together to give recognition to the product of every district of U.P. as well as to craftsmen and artisans involved in the chain of manufacturing. The Handicraft of every district has been depicted on the special covers and the information regarding the same has been printed thereon. The ODOP special covers creatively depict the heritage of districts and archive it for the upcoming generations.

These Covers serve the purpose of the slogan “Vocal for Local” propagated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This will promote regional products and increased the demand in national and international markets. This will also create employment opportunities in a specific region. The Chief Minister congratulated the Department of Post for the release of special covers and suggested all the Government Departments use these covers in their routine correspondence to promote the products. Chief Minister further added that this will create employment opportunities for the local public specially women.

The Chief Postmaster General, UP Circle said that the concept of ODOP launched by the UP government is a milestone to strengthen the local economy and boost self-employment to make “Aatm Nirbhar Bharat”. The Department of Posts has always been connected with the interests of the common man and this bond has become even stronger through this release.
Vivek Kumar Daksh said that industrial activities running traditionally for decades in a particular region has now become its identity and the Department of Post has expanded that identity through the release of special covers. On this occasion, Mohd. Akhtar has expressed that special covers released on the theme of products of every district of UP will not only cause recognition of the products and artisans but also attract investors in that region.

These Special covers and special cancellations are available in the Philatelic Bureau and E-Post offices of the Department. (UNI)
