‘Women who create cash and make a social impact are Social Entrepreneurs’: Ghosh
Kolkata, Aug 25: Low-income women who seek financial help to build an enterprise and create
a social impact is social entrepreneurs, said Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, MD & CEO, Bandhan Bank Limited while speaking at the CII Social Enterprise Conclave Today.
He explained how investing in women is equivalent to investing in equalizing, and was a definite way of making a social impact.
Mr. Ghosh further stated that to bring a change in the society and the economy it was imperative to empower women.
Women are more serious about their jobs and are good investors, they have a high return on
investment as they invest in land, house, gold, etc, he mentioned.
Talking about the importance of scaling up the business, he said, “small is beautiful, big is necessary”.
He concluded by laying down certain guidelines for setting up incubators for social entrepreneurship which were spending time to understand the context and the starting point, instilling confidence in oneself, and not letting imagination curb someone else’s aspiration.
CII is organizing the 3rd edition of Social Enterprise Conclave with a theme ‘Innovate, Invest,
Impact – Getting the Growth Back’ to shape India’s development journey. This Digital Conference will give an effort to create a framework and a conducive environment for Social Enterprise.
The Conference will be a blended experience of impact pitching deck, policy dialogue forum,
fireside chats. The key deliberations would include promoting social entrepreneurship and social innovation as agents of positive social change; providing a platform for social entrepreneurs,
