Within eight months of taking office, the Cong government will forgive farm loans up to Rs 2 lakhs: CM
WYRA, AUG 15 : Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday said the state government waived farm loans up to Rs 2 lakhs within eight months after coming to power.
About Rs 31,000 crore farm loans had been waived, Reddy said at a public meeting here after participating in completion of loan waiver up to Rs two Lakhs of the farmers.
Reddy said he promised to waive the farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15 and fulfilled the same and added that party leader Rahul Gandhi assured the farmers of the waiver of farm loans and the government is committed to it.
Telangana government is the only one which has deposited Rs 18,000 crore in the farmers bank accounts directly in 27 days, he claimed.
Former BRS Minister Harish Rao challenged that he will resign from MLA post if the farm loans are waived by August 15. Now, the BRS leader should take a call. If not, Harish should rub his nose on the ground at the Martyrs Memorial and tender an apology to the Telangana farmers, the CM said.
The Congress government will stick to the word and will not turn back, he said the government is striving to implement the six guarantees promised during the elections.
The BRS leaders are still adamant even after the party received a drubbing in the Lok Sabha election and not won a single seat, Reddy said. It had lost deposits in 7 Parliament seats.
We are implementing the six guarantees one by one, he said, adding the government prepared plans to provide 65,000 jobs this year .
The Government will complete the Sitarama lift irrigation project by August 2026 and will provide irrigation facility to 7 lakh acres in Khammam district , the CM said.(UNI)
