‘We aim to make India power house of content creation’: Anurag Thakur

Panaji, Nov 20 : Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur Today said that the government aims at making the country a power house, for content creation, specially regional cinema, by scaling up regional film festivals.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of 52nd International Film Festival of India (IFFI), he said the government had also aimed at making the country the post production hub for the world by leveraging the immense talent amongst youths and also the hub for world cinema.

‘After all India is a land of story tellers, rich in filming resources. Today the world wants to hear stories of India. India can captivate the world by narrating the India specific stories, the story of rising, powerful, ready to lead the world the India way,’ he said.

Mr Thakur said, ‘Film and entertainment industry has huge employment opportunity as we leapfrog into the digital era of content film making and film archiving for the future generation.’

‘Many in film making are young, they are the power house for content making and new narratives. With a unique combination of connectivity, culture, and commerce, India is poised to be the epicentre of the cinematic ecosystem. Today India’s story is being written and defined by the Indians,’ the minister said.

He called upon the filmmakers to be part of the cinematic scope of collaborating diversity which was set to make new strides.(UNI)
