Victory torch arrives in Nashik

Nashik, Nov 8 : The Vijay Mashal (victory torch), which left New Delhi last year to mark 50th anniversary of India’s victory in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, will continue to inspire every citizen about the security of the country, said Maharashtra and District Guardian Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Monday.

Speaking after welcoming accepting the Victory Torch at the Artillery Centre here, he said, “After a 13-day war between India and Pakistan in 1971, Pakistan surrendered to India on December 16, 1971, and a ceasefire agreement was signed between the two countries. Even today, thanks to the courage, fortitude, bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers, every citizen of the country is safe at home.”

Similarly, this victory torch will inspire the new recruits in the times to come, he added.

Agriculture and Ex-Servicemen Welfare Minister Dadaji Bhuse, who was also present at the event, said, “This victory torch has been welcomed and honoured in different parts of the district. It is our good fortune to have the opportunity to pay our respects to the soldiers of the country through this torch.”

At the beginning of the programme, Bhujbal accepted the victory torch from Captain V L Dika and installed it at the event venue.(UNI)
