Vande Bharat Express surpasses 100% patronage in SCR, demonstrating its tremendous success.
HYDERABAD, JAN 1 : The Vande Bharat Express trains have garnered exceptional success across South Central Railway (SCR), with all four trains introduced in the region in 2023 achieving more than 100 per cent patronage in December 2023.
In a significant development, an additional Vande Bharat Express has been inaugurated in SCR, running from Jalna to Mumbai CSMT. The regular service of this train commenced from Mumbai today. The four Vande Bharat (VB) trains operating across SCR, along with their respective occupancies, are as follows:
Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam VB Express with 16 coaches, introduced in January 2023, has consistently operated with more than 100 per cent occupancy. In December 2023, the occupancy for Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam reached 134%, while Visakhapatnam – Secunderabad Express recorded 143 per cent.
Secunderabad – Tirupati VB Express with 8 coaches, introduced in April 2023, has maintained full occupancy since its inception. Due to overwhelming response, the coaches were increased to 16 from May 17, 2023. The occupancy for Secunderabad – Tirupati Express in December 2023 is 114 per cent, and Tirupati – Secunderabad Express is at 105 per cent.
Kacheguda – Yesvantpur VB Express with 8 coaches, introduced in September 2023, has gained popularity, with an occupancy of 107% in December 2023. In the return direction, Yesvantpur – Kacheguda Express has an occupancy of 110 per cent.
Vijayawada – MGR Chennai VB Express with 8 coaches, introduced in September 2023, has earned recognition by connecting Tirupati, a world-famous pilgrim destination en route. The occupancy for this train is registered at 126 per cent, while MGR Chennai – Vijayawada Express is at 119 per cent.
Mr. Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager, SCR expressed utmost satisfaction with the overwhelming success of Vande Bharat Express trains across the region. He emphasized that meeting the demands of rail passengers remains a top priority for the railways, and efforts will continue to meet the aspirations of passengers, a SCR statement said on Monday.(UNI)
