Uttam asks Congress cadre to campaign hard for victory in MLC polls

Hyderabad, Mar 6 :Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP Capt N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday said that the Congress party did social justice by nominating Sabavath Ramulu Naik, a Girijan, as its candidate in MLC elections for Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates constituency.Uttam Kumar Reddy, along with Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka, was addressing the party leaders and workers in a meeting through Zoom App, a party release here said.He said that the no party has ever made a SC or ST leader as its candidate from the Graduates constituencies. In the current elections, all parties have nominated Reddy community leaders as their candidates from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates constituency. However, he said with the intention of doing social justice, Congress president Sonia Gandhi nominated Ramulu Naik, a Girijan, as party’s candidate from a general category seat. Therefore, he said it was the duty of the entire Congress cadre to work hard for the victory of Ramulu Naik in the MLC elections.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said TRS MLC Palla Rajeshwar Reddy had no moral right to seek votes in the MLC elections. He said Rajeshwar Reddy, in the last six years as MLC, did nothing either for the welfare of graduates or the unemployed youth. He said that TRS leaders were now trying to win elections by spending ill-gotten money and supplying liquor among voters.
The TPCC Chief said that the main contest in the MLC elections from Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda constituency was between Congress and TRS. He said that voting for Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) President Prof M Kodandaram would go waste as he was not a strong contender in the elections.
He said all graduates should unitedly vote only for the Congress candidate to defeat TRS. He said there were strong chances of Congress winning both the MLC seats. Therefore, he said that the Congress cadre should work hard in all six districts to convince graduates to vote in favour of Congress party to defeat TRS and BJP.
Uttam Kumar Reddy slammed the BJP Government at Centre for huge rise in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. He said that the price of a litre petrol was about Rs 70 in 2004 which has now increased to nearly Rs. 100. He said the oil price at the international level was about USD 110 per barrel in 2004 and now it stands around USD 56 per barrel. Despite huge fall in oil prices at the global level, the BJP Government was not passing on the benefit to consumers. Instead, both BJP Govt at the Centre and TRS Govt in Telangana have increased the taxes by almost 60%. He said the rise in fuel prices was leading to a huge increase in the prices of all essential commodities and services. The Central and State Govt will reduce the fuel prices if TRS and BJP candidates lose MLC elections, he said. The TPCC Chief accused Chief Minister K  Chandrashekhar Rao of not doing anything for nearly 30 lakh unemployed youth in Telangana. Of them, he said over 19 lakh qualified youth were registered with the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).

He said KCR Government did not even provide the unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,016 to jobless youth which was promised in 2018 TRS Manifesto. He demanded that the State Government fill all 1.91 lakh vacancies identified by the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) besides taking measures to generate employment opportunities for the remaining 28-29 lakh jobless persons.

Meanwhile, he said that the State Government should provide an unemployment allowance of Rs. 3,016 to all unemployed youth with retrospective effect from December 2018.Further, he said that the State Government must provide fitment of not less than 43 per cent to all the employees.Uttam Kumar Redddy also slammed the BJP Govt for the rise in unemployment rate across the country, especially Telangana. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to give two crore jobs every year. Instead of providing 14 crore new jobs since 2014, BJP Govt’s wrong policies have resulted in the loss of over 18 crore jobs so far.
Further, BJP Govt was trying to scrap lakhs of jobs for reserved categories SCs, STs and BCs by privatising the public sector companies. He said none of the promises made with Telangana State in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014 have been fulfilled by present BJP Govt. He said BJP was only practising communal politics while completely neglecting the development.(UNI)
