US FDA and CDC recommends pausing use of Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine

Washington, April 13 : The US Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recommend that the country pause the use of Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine over reports of “rare and severe” type of blood clot.

“We are recommending a pause in the use of this vaccine out of an abundance of caution,” the US FDA tweeted.

It further said that US CDC & FDA are reviewing data involving 6 reported US cases of a rare & severe type of blood clot in individuals after receiving the vaccine. “Right now, these adverse events appear to be extremely rare,” the US drug regulator said.

CDC will convene a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) on Wednesday to further review these cases and assess their potential significance. FDA will review that analysis as it also investigates these cases.(UNI)
