UP polls : 794 candidates file nominations from 55 seats for second phase
Lucknow, Jan 28: Altogether 794 candidates are in the fray for 55 assembly seats in the second phase of polls in Uttar Pradesh, polling for this phase is scheduled on February 14. On the last day of nominations(today), 382 candidates filed their papers, ECI sources here on Friday said. Bareilly cantt reported highest number of 23 candidates filing their papers followed by 22 each in Bilsi and Shahjahanpur and 21 in Katra assembly seat. Seven candidates filed nominations in Milik and eight candidates each filed nominations in Barhapur and Rampur assembly seats. Lowest of six each candidates are in the fray from Baraut and Baldev assembly seats. Meanwhile in the third phase of nominations in 59 seats where polling is scheduled on February 20, 98 nominations have been filed till now with 56 nominations being submitted today. March 1 is the last day for filling of nominations for the third phase. In the fourth phase, nominations in 60 seats where polling will be held on February 23, as of now 35 nominations have been filed so far with 21 being submitted today. March 3 is the last date for filing of nominations for phase four.(UNI)
