Auraiya (UP), July 24 : Body of a 17-year-old girl missing for the last two days was recovered from a pond in Ajitmal town in Auriaya district here in Uttar Pradesh on Monday, police sources said here.Police sources said that the girl, a first-year undergraduate student, went missing on Saturday evening after which her mother informed his father in Gujarat.”On Sunday the girl’s mother lodged a case against one Rohit of enticing her daughter and eloping with her,” they said.Police sources said that on Monday morning the body of the girl was found floating in the pond. “Circle Officer (CO) Bharat Paswan along with the police force reached the spot, but the agitated family members refused to hand over the body demanding arrest of the accused,” they said.Later, Superintendent of Police (SP) Charu Nigam along with Additional SP Digambar Kushwaha reached the spot and assured strict action against the accused after which the family members relented.SP Charu Nigam said that the case will be worked out soon. “The body has been sent for postmortem examination,” she said.(UNI)
