Lucknow, Jun 30:Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police(DGP) H C Awasthi retired from IPC services Today.

Mr Awasthi handed over the charge to ADG (Law and order) Prashant Kumar, who will handle the responsibilities till a new DGP is announced, probably by this evening.

However, 3 IPS officers are in the race for the post of the state DGP which includes ADG BSF Mukul Goel , DG EOW R P Singh and Nasir Kamal, who is the Director of National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science, New Delhi.(UNI)
