UP bags National Water Awards 2020
Lucknow, Jan 7:Uttar Pradesh Today won the Jal Shakti Ministry’s National Water Awards 2020.
Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu bagged second and third prizes respectively in the best state (normal) category.
This is the third edition of the award instituted in 2018 to recognise and encourage exemplary work and efforts made by states, districts, individuals and organisations across the country in attaining the Centre’s vision of Jal Samridh Bharat.
There were 57 awards for 11 categories, including Best States, District, Panchayat and Best Industries, officials said here.
In the north zone district category, UP’s Muzaffarnagar bagged the award, while Balua in Varanasi won in the “Best Village Panchayat” in the same zone.
The Uttar Pradesh government has set up 104 sewage treatment plants (STP) of 3,298.84 MLD (million litres daily) in the state.
