Unique ‘Guru Granth Sahib Bagh’ comes up at Patto Hira Singh village

Patto Hira Singh (Moga), Sep 21 : A unique garden has been created at the historic village of Patto Hira Singh by the EcoSikh organization with the Petals organization to highlight the message of Guru Sahibs to connect with nature as conveyed in Gurbani, in which 58 plants, shrubs, crops have been planted which are mentioned in the Holy Guru Granth Sahib.
The garden was inaugurated on Tuesday by Panj Pyare Sahiban in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans, former Akal Takht Jathedar Prof Manjit Singh, Punjab Arts Council Chairman Dr Surjit Patel, Mr Charan Singh Mumbai, Sant Gurmeet Singh Khosa Pando and others.
Addressing a brief but impressive function at Gurdwara Gurusar Sahib, DC Sandeep Hans expressed happiness over the contribution of many leading organizations in saving the environment which is getting polluted day by day. He assured that the district administration would extend all possible support in such works.
Mr Hans said that the Niti Aayog has set a target of planting 100 crore saplings in 112 districts of the country including Moga. The district administration has started planting trees in this direction from this monsoon season. He said that though the target was big the district administration was making continuous efforts to achieve it and it was getting success.
The DC said that the district administration was procuring balers for the management of straw to prevent the farmers from burning the crop residues which would be distributed in the villages which had the highest incidence of fire.
On the occasion, EcoSikh and Petals announced that a similar forest would soon be planted at the historic Gurdwara Sahib in village Dina Sahib.
Various speakers said that Guru Granth Sahib Bagh would be an attractive place for environmentalists from all over the world where people of all classes and ages would be exposed to the principles of the environment in Sikhism. This garden will serve as an inspiration and encouragement for Punjab and the world struggling with the environmental crisis.
Sri Guru Nanak Dev, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, Sri Guru Har Rai Sahib and Sri Guru Gobind Singh set foot on this holy land.
Prominent among those present on the occasion included Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Gurmail Singh Sangatpura, Assistant Commissioner (G) Gurbir Singh Kohli, famous singer Bir Singh, Poet Jaswant Singh Zafar, Shubendu Sharma, Baba Gurjit Singh Nanaksar, SGPC Secretary Gurmeet Singh and Dr Sarabjit Singh Renuka.
