Two prisoners flee from Covid -19 care center

Thane, April 24: Four policemen have been suspended for dereliction of duties, as

two inmates lodged at the Tata Amantra Covid Center for treatment escaped from police custody, police said today.

An official at the Bhiwandi police control room said that they escaped from the washroom of the fifteenth floor on Friday.

The center is situated between Kalyan and Bhiwandi and a number of prisoners including those who tested positive are being treated at the center.

Two prisoners were identified as Gajidara Jafri (25) and Khurshid Abdul Hamid Shaikh (33).

They were among the 30 prisoners from Kalyan Aadharwadi jail who were admitted at the Tata Amantra Covid Center on April, 19.

Offenses under the relevant sections of the law were registered against the duo and the hunt is on to nab them, said the police. (UNI)
