Two international drug smugglers have been arrested and drugs worth Rs 3 crore have been seized
HYDERABAD, DEC 24 : The sleuths of the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and North Zone police on Saturday claimed that they have busted a sensational International drug racket operating from Chennai and arrested two international drug smugllers.
On receiving credible information on Friday, Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) along with Begumpet Police apprehended the smugllers – Khadar Mohideen and Ibrahim Sha, who came to Hyderabad while trying to transport the drugs through courier services at Begumpet here, said North Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ms . Chandana Deepthi and H-NEW DCP Chakravarthy Gummi, at a joint press conference here.
Police Seized 3.1 Kgs of PseudoEphedrine (Controlled Substance), 23 Sim Cards, 12 Fake Aadhar Cards And 06 Mobile Phones, all worth Rs 3 crores, from their possession, they said.
Two other drug suppliers are absconding, the DCPs said.
Briefing about the accused, they said the accused duo, residents of Chennai city of Tamil Nadu, were carrying out an illegal International drug transport for the last two years.
They developed contacts with international drug dealers staying in Australia and New Zealand and also developed contacts with suppliers of PseudoEphedrine (controlled substance) in Chennai and regularly transported PseudoEphedrine to Australia and New Zealand through various courier services operating from Hyderabad, the DCPs informed.
In order to escape from the customs checking at Airports they are clandestinely doing illegal transport by packaging the drugs in bangle holders, photo frames, saree and other apparel linings with the cooperation of various courier service providers —Fed Ex ; Mother India Courier Service; World First Domestic & International Courier Services; Avakaya.com Courier Services; Authentic Ship 24/7 Courier Services; Post Box Express Courier Services and MNR Courier Services.
The drug transporters were using fake Aadhar cards and several SIM Cards taken on fake identities in order to escape from the surveillance of investigation agencies, they added.(UNI)
