Torrential rains in Mah leads to heavy inflows into river Krishna
Bagalkote, Jun 18: People living on the banks of the Krishna river have been directed to move to safer places in the wake of a flood-like situation arising from over 72,000 cusecs water being released into the river owing to heavy rains lashing the neibhouring state of Maharashtra.
Hpparagi reservoir engineer K K Jalibari issued a flood warning to the people living on the banks of the river to move to safer places.
While 26,000 cusecs of water released to Ghataprabha river and floods situation in Mudool taluk with in some places the bridges submerged with water.
With the heavy inflow, the Almati reservoir level increased, while water level in Krishna, Vedganga, Doodhganga and Hiranyakeshi rivers have gone up considerably with the Western Ghats in Maharashtra experiencing heavy showers.
This resulted in the submergence of many low-lying bridge-cum-barrages in Belagavi and Bagalkot districts.(UNI)
