To designate RRR South as a National Highway, Telangana CM petitions Nitin Gadkari

HYDERABAD/NEW DELHI, JUNE 26 :  Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has appealed to Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari to declare the southern part of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) as a National Highway and to expand the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway to six lanes.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with Union Minister Gadkari in Delhi on Wednesday. During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for widening national highways in the state, announcing new national highways, and commencing works on roads that have already been declared as national highways, an official statement said.

He emphasized the urgency of declaring the road from Chautuppal to Amangal-Shadnagar-Sangareddy (181.87 km) as a national highway and including it in the annual plan of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) this year.

The Chief Minister also discussed the widening of the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway (NH 65) to six lanes, stressing that over 60,000 vehicles use this crucial road daily, leading to frequent traffic accidents. He urged Minister Gadkari to resolve the dispute between NHAI and the contract company to expedite the road widening project.

Additionally, Chief Minister Reddy requested the immediate commencement of works for the remaining three packages (165 km) of the road from Hyderabad (ORR Gourelli Junction) to Valigonda-Thorrur-Nellikuduru-Mahbubabad-Kottagudem, which has already been declared a national highway.
Other significant requests included:

The declaration of the Jagityala-Peddapally-Manthani-Kataram state highway as a national highway to enhance connectivity for the people of Telangana, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.

Approval and funding for 12 ROBs/RUBs under the Sethu Bandhan Scheme for the year 2023-24.
Upgrading a total of 1,617 km of various roads across the state to national highways.

Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, Peddapally MP Vamsi, and Chennoor MLA Vivek were present at the meeting along with the Chief Minister.(UNI)
