Chennai, May 8: The 16th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assemblyhas been summoned to meet for its first session at 1000 hrs onMay 11 when the newly elected MLAs will take oath as members.

Assembly Secretary K Srinivasan in release here today said thatthe session will be held at the Multi-purpose Hall in KalaivanarArangam,He said the newly elected Members will make and subscribe Oath
or Affirmation on that day.

The Members who have been elected are requested to bring theCertificate of Election without fail while presenting themselves formaking and subscribing the Oath or Affirmation.The election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly willbe held at 1000 hrs on May 12.

The new DMK government headed by Chief Minister M K Stalinassumed office yesterday after the party won the April six Assemblypolls by securing a simple majority on its own.Normally assembly sessions will be held at Fort St George. However,due to space constraints and difficulty in maintaining physical distancingnorms among the members, hence the session was shifted to the morespacious KalaivanarArangam year in view of the COVID pandemic lastyear.(UNI)
