Three institutions launched ‘Green Lungs’ project in Pune
PUNE, SEP 18 : Vanderlande India, Shree Kalpataru Sansthan, and the Pune Forest Department launched ‘Green Lungs’ to create an urban forest in the heart of Pune.
The ‘Green Lungs’ project created a 12,000-tree-strong urban forest in Pune’s Taljai Hills. As part of the initiative, over 100 different species of trees, including rare and endangered, have been planted to increase the green cover and reduce carbon footprint in the region.
The ‘Green Lungs’ project was inaugurated at the hands of Martin Maasland, Executive Managing Director, Vanderlande India, Rashmi Chethan, Sustainability Lead and Head of Data Analytics, Vanderlande India, Vishnu Lamba, Founder, Shree Kalpataru Sansthan, and Deepak Pawar, ACF from the Pune Forest Department. Also, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister of the Forest Department, Government of Maharashtra has appreciated the efforts taken by all stakeholders and congratulated this unique project.
