Nashik, Sep 22 :The Rural Police on Tuesday arrested a gang of three thieves and seized from them sandalwood worth Rs 27,000 at Chalisgaon Phata in Malegaon taluka of the district.
The trio had cut down sandalwood trees in Malegaon taluka area and were carrying the same to Sillod in Aurangabad district by a car, police said.
When police stopped the car for checking, they found sandalwood in it.
When the thieves did not give satisfactory replies during inquiry, police seized sandalwood and car collectively worth Rs 2.27 lakh from them.
Following which, the trio of Gulab Hussain (29), Arif Khan Sher Khan (23) and Irfan Khan Chote Khan (all residents of Sillod taluka) were arrested.
When they were produced before a local court, they were remanded into police custody for two days, sources added.(UNI)
