Third wave has hit Karnataka: Minister
Bengaluru, Jan 4 : With Covid cases rising rapidly, Karnataka Health Minister K. Sudhakar Today said the third wave of the pandemic has reached the state.
“Don’t you think the third wave has arrived? There has been a sudden spurt in the Covid cases. The third wave has arrived in the state,” he told reporters here.
Karnataka reported 1, 290 new Covid-19 cases and five deaths on Tuesday, he said. Bengaluru reported the highest number of 1,041 fresh infections.
Sudhakar said the government is considering more containment measures to control the spread of the virus.
On Tuesday evening, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will meet the technical advisory committee and a decision will be taken on how to check the increasing Covid cases in the state.
Karnataka has vaccinated 380,133 children between the age of 15-18. The state has 31.75 lakh eligible beneficiaries in this age group.
