The vital part L&T played in the Chandrayaan-3 mission

Chennai, July 13 : Larsen & Toubro (L&T), which is associatedwith India’s Space Program for over five decades, is playing acritical role in the launch of LVM3-M4 Chandrayaan-3 missionwhich would take place from Sriharikota on Friday afternoon.L&T has been involved in this mission starting from manufacturingof subsystems till mission tracking, a company release said hereon Thursday.The critical booster segments, namely head end segment, middlesegment and nozzle bucket flange, with a diameter of 3.2 meterwere manufactured and proof pressure tested at L&T’s facility inPowai.Other contributions to the mission include supply of ground andflight umbilical plates, manufactured from L&T’s hi-tech Aerospacemanufacturing facility at Coimbatore.L&T has also been playing a key role in the system integration ofLaunch Vehicle for the Indian Space Programme.AT Ramchandani, Executive Vice President and Head, L&T Defencesaid, “We are privileged to partner with ISRO in nationally importantspace programmes for which L&T has contributed its remarkableengineering prowess, manufacturing expertise and skilled workforce.””The space sector is opening up for the Indian Industry and we willleverage this long association with ISRO to play a bigger role inSpace programmes of the future”, he said.The space hardware was produced at the Aerospace manufacturingfacility fulfilling stringent quality and timeline requirements for India’sthird Moon mission.All these subsystems have been delivered ahead of schedule, therelease said.The L&T made Precision Monopulse Tracking Radar (PMTR) at theSatish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota has been used for fastacquisition and tracking of Launch Vehicles.L&T has also commissioned the Deep Space Networking Antennaat Byalalu required for exploratory missions.L&T, as a long-term trusted partner of ISRO, has been involvedin the production of a range of hardware for every mission of ISRO,including the acclaimed Chandrayaan-1 and 2, Gaganyaan andMangalyaan missions.(UNI)
