The prominent literary figure, politician Ramana Reddy passes away

Tirupati, Sep 29 : Prominent Literary figure and former TDP legislator Dr. M V Ramana Reddy passed away at his residence due to age-related health problems in Proddatur today.
The 78-year-old Reddy dared to question former Chief Minister NT Rama Rao for releasing Krishna water to Chennai.
He joined the Telugu Desam Party in 1983 and was elected as the Proddatur MLA.
He had resigned his MLA seat and set up Rayalaseema Vimochana Samiti to take up the cause of the region.
YSRCP Tirupati MLA B Karunakar Reddy hailed him as intellectual and a lucid Telugu writer.
Ramana Reddy had questioned NTR on the logic of releasing Krishna Water to Chennai when the people of the entire arid region of Rayalaseema were suffering from a lack of drinking water and parched fields.
He went on a 21-day long hunger strike and earned the wrath of NTR.
Ramana Reddy was also one of the founding members of the Revolutionary Writers’ Association alienated to Marxist philosophy.

He has written a volume titled “Rayalaseema Kanneeti gadha” on Backwardness, Rights, and Issues.
His compilation of World History in Telugu has recently been published in four volumes.
The famous literary figure was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1991 in a faction murder case of Ram Subba Reddy. (UNI)
