The distribution of 2 crore trash cans in rural areas was led by AP Min Reddy

TIRUPATI, DEC 1: Andhra Pradesh power, mines, and forest minister Peddi Reddy Ramachandra Reddy said on Thursday the state has taken a lead in 30 Megawatts (MW) of power generation from 2400 tones solid wastes daily.

Addressing an international conference on waste management held at SV university, Tirupati the AP minister highlighted the AP government’s green agenda for all urban populations under Clean Andhra Pradesh ( CAP) scheme conceived by the Andhra Pradesh chief minister.

The minister underscored the various schemes and programs promoting garbage clearance, public toilets, and waste water cleaning units.
Among them was a unique scheme to supply 1.20 crore waste baskets to 40 lakh households and an action plan to supply 2 crore waste baskets in rural areas of the state.

Delegates from 51 nations are participating in the two-day-long conference focused on solid and wet waste management in municipalities. (UNI)
