The Delhi government promises to help flood victims.

New Delhi, July 12 : Delhi Minister Atishi on Wednesday inspected flood relief camps at Millennium Depot and Mayur Vihar and assured the flood victims of required support from the government.Atishi said that the government is ensuring adequate essential facilities for flood victims at relief camps including accommodation, meals, toilets, and medical services, a Delhi Revenue Ministry communique said.The Minister directed officials to ensure that children in relief camps attend school so that their education is not disrupted.She said that due to continuous water are being released from the Hathnikund Barrage in Delhi, the water level of the Yamuna has crossed the danger mark, resulting in flooding of the Khadar areas. In response, the government has shifted people residing in the lower areas of the Yamuna to relief camps, where they are being provided with essential facilities such as food, clean water, toilets, and medical aid, it said.Atishi said, “Floods are a natural calamity, but as a government, it is our responsibility to assist and provide necessary facilities to the affected people. In this regard, we have set up relief camps for people from the Khadar areas.”Around 2,500 camps have been established in six districts of Delhi. These camps provide accommodation, food, water, medical facilities, and other essential amenities for the people. Arrangements for bedding and mats have also been made for the convenience of the residents in these camps, the statement said.(UNI)
