Thane, April 17: With 5039 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, a tally has spiked to 4,06,093 in the Thane district, an official said today.

While 39 people died in the last 24 hours, raising the toll to 6,864.
The mortality rate was 1.69 percent, he added.

So far, 3,42,069 patients have recuperated from the infection, which took the recovery rate to 84.23 percent. There were 57,160 active cases in the district at present, the official said.

In the neighboring Palghar district, the COVID-19 case count has gone up to 64,453 while the death toll was 1,290 he said. (UNI)
