TGPWU urges Govt to introduce social security framework for 4.2 lakh Gig and Platform workers
HYDERABAD OCT 2 :Telangana Gig And Platform Workers Union (TGPWU) on Monday urged the state government and all political parties to introduce a social security framework for persons working in the gig and platform ( Drivers of Ola, Uber, Rapido, Porter etc. & Delivery Partners of Swiggy, Zomato, Amazon and Urban Company) economy of Telangana.
In a release , TGPWU Founder State President Shaik Salauddin said the Government of Rajasthan has introduced a legislation for guaranteeing the social security of gig and platform workers in their state.
The Rajasthan platform based GIG workers (Registration and welfare ) Bill, 2023 provides a scope for the development of a welfare board that would be utilized to provide social protection and benefits for the workers in Rajasthan.
By legislating a social security framework with the above components, the Government of Rajasthan has offered a model for emulation at the national and global level, he added.(UNI)
