Telangana witnesses 6,206 new COVID-19 cases, record 29 fatalities until Thursday night
Hyderabad, April 23: Telangana witnessed yet another record rise in the daily COVID-19 cases as 6,206 fresh Coronavirus cases were reported in the state until 2000 hours on Thursday to take the tally of cumulative cases to 3,79,494 so far.
The state suffered a record 29 fresh fatalities due to COVID-19 taking the overall death toll as of Thursday to 1,928 translating a case fatality rate of 0.50 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.1 per cent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Friday.
As many as 3,052 people have recovered from Coronavirus statewide pushing the total number of recoveries so far to 3,24,840 constituting a recovery rate of 85.59 per cent while the National recovery rate was 83.9 per cent.
The number of active cases in the state currently stands at 52,726, the bulletin said.
In all, 1,05,602 swab samples were tested in the state between Wednesday and Thursday to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 5,531 swab samples are awaited.
Since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, more than 1.22 crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far.
The worst-affected Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC)remaining the main contributor of the infection registered the highest 1,005 new Coronavirus cases in a span of 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajigiri district 502, Nizamabad district 406, Rangareddy district 373, Mahaboobnagar district 271, Jagityal district 257, Mancherial district 226, Siddipet district 215, Karimnagar district 197, Nagarkurnool district 196, Kamareddy district 188, Sangareddy district 185, Bhadradri Kothagudem district 162, Yadadri Bhonigir district 155, Khammam district 152, Vikarabad district 151, Rajanna Sircilla district 138, Medak district 136, Adilabad district 121, Nalgonda district 111, Nirmal district 107, Suryapet and Jangaon districts 109 each, Warangal Rural district 103 and Mahabubabad district 102.
The day’s remaining COVID-19 cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added. (UNI)
