Telangana reports 3,307 fresh COVID-19 cases, eight fatalities until Wednesday night
Hyderabad, April 15: Telangana recorded 3,307 fresh Coronavirus cases until 2000 hours on Wednesday taking the total tally of cases to 3,38,045 so far, even as the surge in COVID-19 cases continued in the state.
The state registered one of the highest single-day spikes of more than 3,000 positive cases after a day’s gap.
After eight patients died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours the total toll due to COVID-19 stands at 1,788 till date translating a case fatality rate of 0.52 percent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.2 percent, according to a state health department bulletin here on Thursday.
As many as 897 people have recovered from Coronavirus statewide pushing the total number of recoveries thus far to 3,08,396 constituting a recovery rate of 91.22 percent while the national recovery rate was 88.3 percent.
Currently, the number of active cases in the state stands at 27,861 including 18,685 individuals in-home or institutional isolation, the bulletin said.
In all, 1,06,627 swab samples were tested between Tuesday and Wednesday in the state to detect the contagious virus and out of which the reports of 3,715 swab samples are awaited.
Cumulatively, more than 1.13 crore COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state since the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The worst-hit Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation remaining the chief contributor of the infection, registered the highest number of 446 Coronavirus cases in a span of 24 hours followed by Medchal Malkajgiri district (314), Nizamabad district (279), Rangareddy district (277), Jagityal district (155), Sangareddy district (153), Nirmal district (148), Kamareddy district (128), Nalgonda district (102) and Khammam district (101).
The remaining new COVID-19 cases have been registered by other districts, the bulletin added. (UNI)
