Telangana reports 216 new COVID-19 cases, two fatalities

Hyderabad, Mar 13 :The number of coronavirus cases continue to rise in Telangana as the state recorded 216 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the total COVID-19 count to 3,00,933, the state health department said on Saturday.

The cumulative toll mounted to 1,652 after two patients died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours translating a case fatality rate of 0.54 per cent as against the countrywide mortality rate of 1.4 per cent, according to the state health department bulletin.

As many as 168 people have recovered from coronavirus statewide in the past 24 hours, pushing the overall recoveries till date to 2,97,363 constituting a recovery rate of 98.81 per cent while the national recovery rate was 96.8 per cent.

The state presently has 1,918 active cases including 749 individuals in home or institutional isolation, the bulletin added.

In all, 34,482 samples were tested in the state between Thursday and Friday to detect the contagious virus out of which the results of 338 swab samples are awaited.

More than 91.49 lakh COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state so far since the

outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation which has the highest infection rate, among the districts,contributed be the major contributor of cases by recording a maximum of 52 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Rangareddy (18),Medchal Malkajgiri (18),Karimnagar and Warangal Urban 11 each and Adilabad 10 cases.

The day’s remaining coronavirus infection were reported by other districts,the bulletin said.(UNI)
